August 2013 Meeting

The August meeting will focus on doing mite counts. Our host, Sally Mills, will demonstrate a sugar roll for at least one of her hives. Of course, there will be ample time to discuss your questions and topics of concern prior to getting into the hives.

Directions:

A bridge between Sally’s place and Millheim is closed, so she has provided these explicit directions on how to get to her house. You don’t want to take the official detour.

From Millheim (as if you were coming from Lamar over Madisonburg mountain)

• Turn LEFT , (west) at the traffic light in Millheim .
• Go thru the next red light  (a temporary setup for bridge construction, which is down in a dip just after a food store and a Weavers store on the left)
• Take the next LEFT, which is Paradise Rd.
• At the next stop sign, turn LEFT onto Penn’s Creek Rd.
• Go thru the town of Coburn
• When you come upon a sign ( in 1 mile or so) that says LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY (straight ahead) take that, not the road to the right
• Her farm is the next place on the left  (not counting the little store before that).  You can hardly see our place now from this direction because of all the trees. We are directly opposite a house on the right. This is only about 100 yards from the detour sign.

From Centre Hall 

• In Old Fort at the junction of rt. 144 and rt. 45, at the light, turn LEFT (east) on 45.
• Go about 10 miles, thru Spring Mills, past the schools, and JUST BEFORE the temporary traffic light, turn RIGHT onto Paradise rd. From there it is the same as above.
